Description

This workshop is for current or former UCSF students and postdocs only.

Presenter: Michael Matrone, PhD, Program Director, Non-academic Career Development, UCSF Office of Career and Professional Development

This workshop will cover resumes, interviews, and negotiation for industry positions.

First, we'll introduce you to the difference between a CV and a resume, teach you how to craft a solid industry researcher resume, and show you four steps for tailoring your resume to each job you apply to. Bring a paper copy of whatever CV or resume you have and receive constructive coaching on how to improve it!

Next, learn how to prepare for interview questions you are guaranteed to be asked during interviews in biotech or pharma. We'll coach you through strategies that will help you respond effectively.

Finally, learn what goes into a typical industry job offer (salary, bonus, stock, benefits, etc), how to discuss compensation packages with your future employer, and how to ask for more before you accept a job offer.
